What Is The Best Link Cloaker To Buy Right Now?

The best link cloaker to buy

So yesterday we had this little discussion on Facebook where Ken complained about affiliate URLs being blacklisted by various spam checkers. The result: a high bounce rate and low click rates. As it turns out, he tried many affiliate link cloaker that did not help and asked: “What is the best link cloaker to buy in the moment?”

As many affiliate marketers might face the same problem, I decided to chip in and add my 2 cents…

The link cloaker I am using for such cases is WP Link Shield. It’s a link cloaking WordPress plugin, and here are the 3 main reasons why I prefer this solution above others.

Why is WP Link Shield the best link cloaker to buy?

1. Prevents Commission Loss
Whether someone just copies the de-cloaked link from the browser bar to open it in another browser, or shares it with a friend over social media or email. The result is that there’s no cookie in place, hence a lost sales for the affiliate.

WP Link Shield won’t show the de-cloaked affiliate link, which prevents the majority of commission loss through theft, browser switching or link sharing.

2. 100% Social Media Friendly
Facebook for example blocks all JVZoo URLs, no matter what domain they are on. If you try to post a link, even in a private message, a pop up will appear telling you that this URL is not allowed. When cloaking the link with most of the affiliate link cloaking software available, Facebook will follow them through to the final target. Once they detect one of the blocked domains within the route a warning message will pop up:

JVZoo Link Blocked by Facebook

The way how WP Link Shield cloaks the affiliate links prevents Facebook from recognizing the blocked JVZoo URL. The same is true for any other kind of spam checker that matches against a list of blacklisted domains.

You can try it easily yourself…

Just share this link on Facebook and see that it works perfectly. 😉

3. Blocks exit pop ups on external sales pages

Just think about the sneaky tricks product creators might use to steal your commission or subscribers. If you are not sure about it, but would like to recommend the product, then here’s your solution. WP Link Shield can block exit pop ups on these sales pages.

Let me show you two examples with a sales page that has an exit pop up. The first example will show the pop up as usual, and the second example will block the pop up.

These plugins are really compulsory for all who are doing affiliate marketing. It decreases the 100 characters affiliate link in few characters. I heard about these plugins a few months ago, now, I came to know a lot about these plugins. If in future, I chose doing Affiliate Marketing, I’ll be surely using these.

      Hi Gary,

      thanks for your comment.

You’re right, using a link cloaker is a must if you are in affiliate marketing, not just to get rid of the ugly affiliate link.

Another reason, besides the one’s mentioned above, is that you are able to easily change the target link at one central location if necessary. For example when the affiliate program is discontinued, or when the affiliate link changes.

    Hi Torsten,

Nowadays, people are using the ad blockers and the plugins to stop the spams.

The link Cloaker helps your to represent the content different for the search engines and the users.

I am sure WP Link Shield would do the best for the affiliate marketers.

      Hi Ravi,

      thanks for your comment.

Using a link cloaker makes the URL appear like it is from your own domain, regardless of its target.

As ad blockers look for certain elements such as easily to identify tags or domain names to block on a website, a link cloaker might help. However, in this case also other elements, e.g. images need to be served from the own domain, and not from the original source.

I will use “Pretty Link Lite” for cloaking affiliate links because we don’t need to worry about visitors who removes our affiliate id and later on directly visit product page. “Pretty Link Lite” worked fine until few waks ago when I have noticed some of bugs and ugly links in addres barr when you checking tag page. I Could try WP Link Shield to fix this.

      Hi Annette,

      thanks for stopping by.

Pretty Link works well for cloaking affiliate links, and I used it myself on various blogs. However, it is – like all the other link cloakers available – limited in its features and won’t give you the full benefits WP Link Shield has to offer.

If you don’t need to protect yourself from commission loss, to block exit pop ups or a link cloaker that is 100% social media friendly, than every affiliate link cloaker is fine. But for those who want to take it a step further, WP Link Shield is the only link cloaker in the moment to offer all these features.

I use off2url.com. It’s free and provides a link shortening / cloaking service. No registration required, but you can register (free) which allows you to edit your links after creating them

      Hi Graham,

      thanks for your comment.

If you’re using off2url.com, I’d suggest to check and change your links, as the site is offline. Hence your affiliate links will be offline, too. 😉

You see, this is the problem with using any of the free services. You never know when they go down the drain. And if they do, your business will follow.

That’s why I suggest not to rely on any free tools, if they are essential for your business. Not to mention all the other disadvantages that usually go together with it.

    Hello Torsten,

We as bloggers hate it the most when we loose money or when things don’t go according to plan.

There is no doubt as well that Facebook plays an instrumental role for the survival of any blog therefore being on their blacklist is a major disaster.

      Hi Kabie,

      thanks for your comment.

I agree, for many bloggers, and also affiliate marketers, Facebook – as well as other social media sites – is a major source of traffic. For this it is important to take any measurement to stay clear from their blacklist.

However, we don’t have an influence on other sources being shared on social media, and this is often the problem why domains end up on the blacklist. In the example of JVZoo links, it’s due to heavy ‘spamming’ by thousands of people. As a result these URLs are blacklisted for everyone.

The only workaround to use these links on social media is to cloak them with WP Link Shield, which prevents tracking down the target URL.

Good solution to a very common problem for affiliate marketers.

While I do very little affiliate marketing myself, I have many clients who do. I’ll be sure to pass this on to them.

      Hi Donna,

thanks for stopping by and commenting.

You see, there are many affiliate link cloaker available, and all of them do a great job in beautifying the affiliate link. But the main job is not properly taken care about; protecting the affiliate’s commission.

Commission loss does not necessarily need to be out of bad intention. But for a fact, many people – myself included – visit websites on a mobile device but purchase later using their desktop computer.

As there won’t be an affiliate cookie in place after changing devices, the result will be a lost sale for the affiliate.

      Have a wonderful weekend,

Why would anyone be using free service to cloak your money urls? These free services only rely on ads clicks on their websites, and they go offline times without numbers.

I’ve been with using clickmagick and never regretted, between, i enjoy the easy settings with Maxbounty.

    Peace. . .

That’s right, Seun, using any of the free services can’t be recommended.

As you said, ClickMagick is one of the better choices when it comes to link tracking etc. However, WP Linkshield as a link cloaker has features that aren’t supported by ClickMagick.

Anyhow, for anyone who’s interested in ClickMagick, I highly recommend to check it out. 🙂
